Private Pilot Airplane practice question 14
(Refer to FAA-CT-8080-2H, Figures 32 and 33.) Which action can adjust the airplane's weight to maximum gross weight and the CG within limits for takeoff? Front seat occupants: 425 lb Rear seat occupants: 300 lb Fuel, main tanks: 44 gal

Show answer
Correct answer: B. Drain 9 gallons of fuel.
Empty weight 2,015 lb + front 425 + rear 300 + 44 gal fuel (264 lb) = 3,004 lb, 54 lb over the 2,950 lb maximum. Fuel weighs 6 lb/gal, so draining 9 gallons brings the airplane exactly to 2,950 lb. The new moment (1,554 + 361.3 + 363 + 158 = 2,436.3) falls inside the 2,422–2,499 limits for 2,950 lb. Transferring fuel would not reduce weight.
