Freezing Level AGL = (Temp C / 2) * 1000 (example: 5º C / 2 = 2.5 * 1000, freezing level is 2500' AGL) ** NOTE: B. When to Descend = Current Altitude – Desired Altitude * 3 (example: I'm cruising at 150 I need to get to 050 that is a 10,000 foot decent. Multiply 10,000 by 3 which = 30,000. Common sense tells me to knock off 3 zeros to start my decent 30 miles from the fix/airport) ** NOTE: C. Rate of Decent for Above = Ground Speed / 2 * 10 (example: to meet that 30 mile decent plan I need to divide my groundspeed by two. so in this case lets say its 180 kts dived that by two and that is 90 then multiply by 10 to get 900 FPM) ** NOTE: D. Time To Station = 60*Time between Bearings/Bearing Change (example: It took me 6 mins to move across 10º of bearings. so 60*6/10 is 36 mins to the station) ** NOTE: E. Distance To Station = TAS*Min Flown/ Degree of Bearing Change (example: My TAS is 160 it took me 6 mins to fly across 10º of bearings so 160*6/10 is 96. So I am 96 miles away from the station)
